  • A Guide to Commercial Fencing for Your Business: Key Considerations and Oregon-Specific Regulations

    Introduction to Commercial Fencing

Need a fence for your business and don’t know where to start? This guide to commercial fencing for your business can help. The decision to install a commercial fence involves balancing functionality, aesthetics, security, and legal compliance. This guide aims to provide you with a broad understanding of commercial fencing, no matter where you are. Full disclosure: we’re a fencing company based in Coos Bay, Oregon, so we’ll include some specifics for those of you located nearby.

Selecting the Right Fence: Factors to Consider

    • Determining the Purpose:

Understanding why you need a fence is crucial. For heightened security, like at a warehouse or a manufacturing plant, a sturdy, tall metal fence with access control might be ideal. If you’re looking for privacy, such as for an office complex or a private club, a solid wood or vinyl fence can provide a secluded environment. Aesthetic appeal is key for businesses like boutique hotels or cafes, where a decorative wrought iron or beautifully designed wooden fence can enhance the property’s charm and attract customers.

Example: A luxury car dealership might opt for a high, opaque fence to ensure the security of high-value inventory while maintaining an upscale look.

    • Material Choices

Each fencing material comes with its own set of benefits and considerations:

      • Wood: Offers a classic, warm look, ideal for settings that value traditional aesthetics, like quaint coffee shops or professional law offices. Keep in mind, it may require treatments for weather resistance and regular maintenance to prevent rot or insect damage.
      • Metal: Ideal for industrial or high-security settings due to its strength. Steel or aluminum fences can range from utilitarian chain link for factories to elegant wrought iron designs for boutique stores.
      • Vinyl: A great low-maintenance option that can mimic the look of wood without the upkeep. Perfect for businesses that want a neat, clean appearance with minimal fuss.
      • Chain Link: Cost-effective and durable, ideal for utility areas, outdoor storage, or sports facilities. It can be combined with privacy slats for added seclusion.
Example: A community garden could use a chain link fence for security while allowing visibility, or a coastal resort in Coos Bay might choose vinyl fencing for its resistance to saltwater corrosion.
    • Design and Style

Your fence is an extension of your property’s personality. The design should not only complement but also enhance your property’s architecture and setting.

For instance, a sleek, modern, minimalist metal fence might work well for a contemporary glass office building used as a tech company’s headquarters, while a rustic wooden fence would fit beautifully with a country-style restaurant.

Additionally, consider functional design elements – a fence for a daycare center might include lower panels for child safety, whereas a restaurant with outdoor seating might incorporate lattice work for a blend of privacy and openness.

Example: A historic bed and breakfast in an Oregon heritage area might opt for a Victorian-style wrought iron fence to maintain historical integrity and curb appeal.

    Navigating Legal and Regulatory Requirements

    • Permit Process: In many areas, including Oregon, fencing projects may require permits, especially if they exceed certain height thresholds. This process involves submitting plans and ensuring that your project complies with local zoning and building codes.
    • Professional Installation: Hiring licensed contractors is crucial for compliance and quality. In Oregon, contractors must meet specific state requirements, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to handle your project professionally.
    • Local Regulations and Compliance: Familiarize yourself with local regulations regarding fence height, style, and placement. These regulations are in place to ensure safety, aesthetics, and boundary accuracy.

    Oregon-Specific Fencing Guidelines

    • Shared Responsibility in Oregon: In Oregon, particularly for properties in Coos Bay, shared fencing costs are common when the fence lies on a property boundary. This requires cooperation and agreement with neighboring property owners.
    • Resolving Disputes: Oregon law offers avenues for dispute resolution regarding fence construction and maintenance, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good neighborly relations.
    • Correcting Construction Errors: Oregon laws provide a timeframe for rectifying construction mistakes, such as building a fence on the wrong property, highlighting the importance of accurate property surveys before construction.

    Additional Tips for Effective Fencing

    • Security Enhancements: For commercial properties concerned with security, consider features like anti-climb designs, integrated surveillance systems, and sufficient height to deter unauthorized access.
    • Landscaping and Aesthetics: A well-designed fence can enhance the overall appearance of your property. Consider how it blends with existing landscaping and whether it aligns with your brand’s image.
    • Maintenance Planning: Factor in the long-term maintenance requirements of your chosen fencing material. Some materials may require regular treatments or repairs, impacting overall costs.

    Conclusion

The right fencing can add significant value to your commercial property, and this guide to commercial fencing for your business serves as a starting point to make informed decisions that balance aesthetic desires with practical needs and legal requirements. • 6 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Fencing Contractor

    6 reasons for Fencing Contractors

After you’ve purchased the fence materials, deciding what to do with them can be daunting. Should you attempt to install the fence yourself? If so, how do you know if you’re doing it correctly? Or should you hire a fencing contractor in the Coos Bay area to complete the job for you? This article will discuss the benefits of hiring a fencing contractor and give you six reasons why it’s better to leave it to an expert than try it yourself.

    1) Temporary fencing can be essential

Although temporary fencing is not nearly as expensive or permanent as other fencing options, temporary fencing is extremely useful when there are many people working in one area, such as during a construction project. Temporarily fencing off an area makes it easy to keep everyone safe while they’re working. Temporary fencing will also keep pets and children away from dangerous areas, making sure that they don’t accidentally get hurt. If you need some temporary fence for your next construction project, look into Coos Bay Temporary Fence Company today!

    2) Companies use quality materials

West Coast Fencing, will always use high-quality materials that should last or years. They’ll create your fence with specific materials that work best in Coos Bay. Some of these materials include galvanized steel or PVC pipes. These are sturdy and flexible, which makes them perfect for fences in your yard. With galvanized steel or PVC pipes, you don’t have to worry about your fence rusting or bending due to weather conditions like rain. Because they’re made out of PVC plastic, no ultraviolet light will damage them either!

    3) We have experience

The first advantage of hiring a professional to build your fence is that they will have experience in what they are doing. If you try to do it yourself, you won’t know where to start or how to go about doing it. A fencing contractor will know exactly what he needs and will make sure everything fits perfectly into place. They are familiar with all aspects of fencing: When dealing with fences, there are many things that should be considered: wood types, fence posts, tool installation and much more.

    4) A fence around your yard can improve your homes value.

Because of its aesthetic appeal, fencing is one of many home improvements that can raise your home’s resale value. A fence around your yard can also add extra privacy or security for you and your family. The hardest part about installing your own fence is dealing with all of those heavy posts and cement. Let professionals take care of that for you by hiring a fencing contractor to build your new fence! Temporary fencing options are also available if you would like to save money but need temporary protection from unwanted animals on your property!

    5) There are so many type of fencing to choose from.

Choosing fencing for your yard can be an overwhelming experience. While it may seem like there are only a few options available to you, once you start doing research, you will see that there are hundreds of choices. The first thing that you need to do is figure out what type of fencing you want in your yard and then decide how big of an area you would like to cover. Once that is decided, then it’s time to look at whether or not you want something decorative or more functional. Remember that fences should be able to secure what they are built around as well as add beauty to it.

    6) A professional can provide 24/7 emergency service

When it comes to fencing in your home, you’ll want to be able to contact your contractor at any time of day or night. It can be hard to find some businesses that are available around-the-clock, but fencing contractors typically have special work shifts set up so they can handle maintenance and repairs as soon as possible. This is particularly important if you have pets or kids in your home because there could be an emergency repair at any time. A contractor that’s always on call means you never have to worry about getting stuck with a fence problem during non-business hours.
